How to be a stock market player

A message for people who don’t know enough about the stock market to get involved with confidence:

Chances are your grandfather didn’t invest in the stock market.

The same may be true of your parents.

The overwhelming odds are that they didn’t retire rich, or even comfortably.

How well will you retire?

Here’s the bottom line for anyone who is staying out of the stock market for the simple reason that they don’t know enough about it. They aren’t sure how to begin, or what they do know about the stock market i intimidating.

Or worse, because someone told them that the stock market is “too risky.”

Ignorance isn’t bliss after all.

Rather, where investing for your retirement is concerned,

it’s a promise of mediocrity.

Because if you put your long-term money into savings bonds or a savings account, then you stand little chance at all of retiring with enough money to live as you choose. In fact, you’ll be lucky to keep up with the rate of inflation over the years.

The truth is, unless you start a successful business of your own, the stock market is your best and perhaps your only chance to retire comfortably.

If – and only if – you begin it now.

Announcing a new resource created for people just like you.

People who are new to the stock market and could use help to understand and navigate this exciting opportunity.

It’s not just a book, and it’s definitely NOT someone trying to sell you stocks. Rather, this is about unlocking your future through the power of knowledge and the conquering of fear.

And let’s get real… the only reason to fear the stock market is because you don’t understand it.

It’s time to change all that.

Meet Omar Best, founder and publisher of “How To Be a Stock Market Player,” an educational and support website for people who no longer wish to allow fear and ignorance to stand in the way of their future:

Dear Investor:

“Fear” is, ironically, a scary word. None of us want to admit to it, but anyone who has looked at the stock market from the outside and felt a twinge of regret and frustration based on the sad truth that they’ve stayed away because they don’t know enough to even start, must admit that fear is part of the problem.

Call it fear, call it ignorance, call it working too hard for a living to take time to educate yourself… whatever. The time has come to stop making excuses and realize that the opportunity just might be passing you by. Because the stock market is, based on historical data, the best and most consistent long-term investment out there.

And I’m going to show you how you can get involved.

There is only one way to conquer fear, and that’s through the power of knowledge. This is why I’m here today, laying out this opportunity for you in the plainest language I can. Because I’ve launched a new website for people just like you, people who don’t feel they know enough about the stock market to get their feet wet, yet realize they are missing a great opportunity if they don’t.

I’m willing to lay odds that you would take a long, serious at the stock market if you had a personal mentor to show you the ropes.

Of course, that’s not really practical, is it. And if you think your stockbroker is that person, think again. A stockbroker isn’t in the business to educate you or hold your hand through the process, they’re in it to make commission dollars off your trades, period.

Which means you’re right about one thing: where the stock market is concerned, you’re very much on your own. Especially if you know virtually nothing about how it all works.

Well, you’re not on your own anymore.

You don’t have to go back to school to learn about the stock market. And you don’t need a personal mentor standing at your side explaining things. But you do need a fundamental knowledge of the stock market to get started, along with a solid grasp of the vocabulary and the underlying principles involved.

And that’s what this all about. I’m not talking about turning you into an expert, or how to pick stocks that always go up. What I am talking about is leveling the playing field for you, so that you can research and invest with the same confidence as anyone else out there, including those who are making all the money.

You don’t need a four-year degree in finance, and you don’t need to devote all your feel time to watching the market. What you absolutely need is the confidence to overcome your fear. And I’m going to give it you.

Announcing a new website designed for people like you, who are new to the stock market and could use a resource to help you understand and access this exciting opportunity.

Imagine being able to answer these questions with

complete and utter confidence:

  • Where and how do I buy and sell stocks?
  • Who gets my money when I invest in stocks?
  • How do I know which stocks to buy, which companies are worth investing in?
  • How do I know when to sell the stock I own?
  • How much money do I need to get started?
  • Do I need a stockbroker, and how much will that cost me?
  • Who sets the prices for the stocks I buy and sell?
  • Am I going to lose some of my money in the stock market?
  •

These questions and others like them are the things that keep many people away from the stock market, because the answers seem elusive, complex and intimidating. But the people that know those answers are no smarter or better educated than you are, they just know. And now you can, too.

To show you how simple some of these concepts are, here are answers to a few of the most confusing principles for people who are new to the stock market:

Who gets my money when I buy stock?

Think of the stock market as you would a used car lot, because that’s precisely what it is – a used stock market, where shares owned by someone else (usually not the issuing company) are put up for sale.

The only time the company whose name is on the stock certificate gets money from the sale of their stock is if the stock is newly issued, called an “IPO” (Initial Public Offering). In this case, the stock isn’t being sold on a stock market, but directly to investors through “underwriters,” who act as a sales agent for the issuing company.

Why does the price of a stock fluctuate?

The stock market is the purest example in the universe of the law of supply and demand at work. Because the prices are set by people who are bidding to buy, in context to the prices at which people are willing to sell.

An example of this is easily understood in the real estate market. If many people want to buy a particular house, they will make higher and higher bids, while the seller simply waits to see which will be the highest before they sell. But if there are no offers, the seller will have to gradually lower their price until an offer arrives. This is precisely what happens on the stock market – the more people want a stock, the higher the price, and vice versa.

How has the stock market done over the years?

Very well, thank you. Over the past 50 years, the stock market has averaged a rate of return of 11. 2 percent (the S&P average, as calculated by T. Rowe Price, a major investment firm) per year. Compare that to the 5 percent your parents got on their bank savings account, and especially to the less than 2 percent return on savings accounts today, and the numbers speak for themselves.
